Sanibel

Sanibel is a charming small city on Sanibel Island, located along the Gulf of Mexico. It is famous for its extraordinary sunsets, impressive lighthouse, and gorgeous beaches. Just like in the rest of the region, the beaches have white "sugar" sand, crystalline waters, and endless blue skies, but the beaches around Sanibel are also characterized by the many shells that wash ashore from the Gulf of Mexico. Head to the lovely Lighthouse Beach for a picturesque fishing pier, the extraordinary 19th-century Sanibel Lighthouse, and a boardwalk which winds through marshes. The J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge covers about half of the island, and is ideal for hiking and exploring.
