Greenville

The city of Greenville was named after the Revolutionary War hero General Nathaniel Greene, and dates back as far as 1828. The city continues to have a strong sense of the past, as seen in the historic courthouse, charming downtown with antique shops and restaurants, and the numerous historic homes which dot the streets. The Meriwether County courthouse in Greenville was constructed around 1903 and burned in 1976. There is also plenty to see and do in this area, such as go hiking, biking, fishing, hunting, swimming, boating, kayaking, canoeing, and much more. Head to Calloway Gardens resort, or check out LaGrange, Georgia and West Point Lakes.
