The Black Mountains are also home to the only alpine forest in the eastern United States. The mountains are waterfall country and many are easily accessible, while others offer a challenge to access, but hikers are rewarded with magnificent waterfalls that take guests' breath away.

Glampers looking for culture can head into the city of Asheville, the cultural center of western North Carolina. The downtown area is also great to check out the shops, bars, and restaurants, for a taste of the local culture and cuisine as well as the many crafts from the region.

The spectacular Biltmore House, built at the turn of the twentieth century by the Vanderbilts as their summer mountain retreat, is open to the public year-round and offers a view of high society living during the start of the 1900s.
