What a selection of day trips to choose from! There's the W. Kerr Scott Reservoir, which not only makes for a wonderful picnic spot, but is the perfect opportunity to go boating, jet skiing, or even paddle boarding on. In nearby Blowing Rock, avid golfers have their own country club to run amok on, while families will have a blast at Tweetsie Railroad, complete with rides and a petting zoo. Budding historians will have plenty to discover and discuss while visiting Mystery Hill museum, while casual and expert skiers alike will relish in the offerings available from Appalachian Ski Mountain, with runs to suit winter sports enthusiasts of every skill level. And of course, the mainstay of this corner of North Carolina is exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains themselves, either by foot or mountain bike (Moses H. Cone Memorial Park and Julian Price Memorial Park are particularly noteworthy).
