Marietta

The small town of Marietta is located in Greenville County just on the South Carolina side of the border with North Carolina. It is ideal for visiting the nearby Table Rock State Park which contains miles of footpaths ranging in length from a few miles to the 80-mile Foothill Trail which takes hikers along the eastern escarpment of the famous Blue Ridge Mountains. Nature lovers will enjoy the varied wildlife of the southern Appalachians with their dense old-growth forests, vivid fall colors, and innumerable streams but the town is also close to nearby towns such as vibrant Greenville with its arts venues and restaurants and Asheville, nearby in North Carolina, which has been voted one of the most romantic cities in the South thanks to its historic architecture, fine dining, and boutique shops.
