Yemassee

Yemassee is located in South Carolina’s “Lowcountry”, the coastal flatlands and offshore islands that form the state’s Atlantic seaboard. It is a region of deep rural calm, rice fields, tranquil shorelines, and historic small towns such as Beaufort, the second oldest in the state after Charleston, voted one of the best small-town getaways in the south. Beaufort itself, with its historic architecture that encompasses Federal, Neoclassical and Greek Revival styles, lies a short distance from Yemassee in the same county, as do a number of scenic offshore islands such as tranquil Seabrook. Closer to home, Yemassee offers local hiking and birding opportunities and architecture lovers will enjoy visiting the Auldbrook plantation whose house was designed by the internationally famed architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.
