Nearby, foothill trails are easily accessible with Sedona Red Rock Country just a 20-minute trip from the accommodation. Being in a secluded region, it's fantastic to explore the best of the trails and historic sites in Clarkdale.
Jerome is a nearby historic village situated on the side of a mountain, which started as a mining village. The town now has 500 residents and has become a tourist hotspot. The former mansion is now a museum detailing the history of Jerome and the mining industry. A great place to stop for lunch is the picnic area on the hill, which provides stunning views of the Verde Valley.
A unique way to explore the Verde Canyon is via the old railroad, a train ride that goes through the southwest of Arizona's backcountry. Guests can sit and observe the red rock canyon on a four-hour excursion, a running commentary is also provided by trained staff. Passages throughout the canyon also include passing through a 680-foot tunnel. Food is also provided along with narration accompanied by classic and popular railroad music.
Guests can take a trip to Old Town Cottonwood, full of little, unique shops that sell handmade objects and fresh jars of organic foods. The little town also has an array of wine tasting rooms and is a great place to stop for a bite to eat in the local restaurants. Guests should explore the jail trail towards the end of town and follow the hike that leads to the Cottonwood River.
