Fort Fisher State Recreation Area

The six miles of beach at Fort Fisher State Recreation Area provides you with numerous activities and beautiful scenery. Fort fisher lies with the Atlantic Ocean on the east and Cape Fear River on the west and is located on the southern tip of Pleasure Island. There is plenty to explore including salt marshes, tidal creeks and mud flats. Glampers can enjoy picnicking at the beach or swim in the cool Atlantic Ocean. The area is also a popular destination for fishing and hiking. The miles of white sandy beach provide a stunning setting for leisurely strolls or bird-watching. The vast range of wildlife consists of endangered wildlife and also includes Loggerhead sea turtles which nest on the beach.
