Situated near Leh in the Indus river valley, the Thiskey monastery is a sight to behold. The area boasts incredible, historic Buddhist temples, lavish palaces, and stunning mountain scenery.
Activities near Leh
Day One: After arriving in Leh, glampers will be greeted by the glamping site’s staff and accompanied to their residence at the Thiskey Monastery. Guests are medically required to take it easy this day in order to get accustomed to the high altitude.

Day Two: Enjoy a peaceful morning with a long breakfast and a walk around the glamping site, taking in the gorgeous natural surroundings. After lunch, glampers will be escorted to Leh, which is approximately one hour away from the glamping site. There guests will visit Leh Palace and the Ladakh Arts and Media Organization to see some of the historical houses and structures of the area. End the day at Shanti Stupa, enjoy a large and beautiful outlook over Leh with spectacular views of the countryside.

Day Three: After an early morning start, glampers will visit the Thiskey monastery, where they will have the opportunity to participate in the sunrise morning prayer ceremony. Spend the afternoon exploring the Hemis Monastery, the oldest monastic instutition in Ladakh, where lamas in training are taught literature, yoga, philosophy, and tantra. The artwork at this site is spectacular.

Day Four: Today, follow the footsteps of Buddha and drive along the River Indus until you arrive at the Alchi Monastery, which was built in the 11th Century. Have lunch next to the beautiful Tibetan and Gandhara style murals and frescos of Buddha. The fourth day offers an optional rafting excursion down the Indus River. During this excursion, glampers will float by traditional Ladakhi villages and see the stunning views.

Day Five: After breakfast, glampers will drive 20 kilometers to the visit the Stok Palace, a striking medieval fortress. A part of the palace has been converted into a museum, which houses collections of the royal family and includes royal costumes, coins, photographs, and paintings. After the museum, visit the charming village of Stok, where you can wander along the winding streets and enjoy a nice cup of tea. In the afternoon, glampers will watch a traditional game of polo.
