This exceptional villa is set on a clifftop overlooking a tidal lagoon and the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Situated just eight minutes from the center of the small town of Oualidia, the villa adjoins the grounds of a royal palace built by King Mohammed V. The clear blue waters of the lagoon are ideal for surfing, swimming, and watersports. A short walk from the villa you'll find soft, sandy beaches; further afield are oyster farms, protected wetlands, and bird habitats. The villa sits in 25,000 square feet of private gardens planted with palm trees, pine, and eucalyptus. With free breakfast, maid service and a chef on hand to prepare local oysters and seafood, La Diouana offers all the privacy and comfort of a villa with the convenience of a hotel.

The nearest international airport is Casablanca, which is about a two-hour drive from the rental.

Oualidia has an international reputation for surfing and windsurfing. The lagoon is shallow enough for swimming and there are three beaches to check out, including one only accessible by boat. The hosts can help organize surf lessons, kayaking and pedalo hire. Horseriding and quad biking facilities are available and there are stunning walks, either along the Atlantic clifftops or beside the quiet waters of the lagoon. BIrdwatchers will find much to interest them, especially during the migration seasons of Spring and Autumn.

In nearby Safi, the pottery center of Morocco, glampers can buy local ceramics and choose from the day's catch at the fishing harbor. To the north, Azemmour has an ancient medina and windswept beaches. El Jadida, just 60 minutes away, is an old Portuguese outpost with a 17th-century cistern made famous by Orson Welles in his film of Othello. El Jadida also has a waterfront golf course for guests who want to work on their handicap.
