A quirky little town in the Waikato region of North Island, Tirau is one of the many unique villages in New Zealand. There a number of large buildings constructed in peculiar fashions; you’ll see iron buildings constructed in the form of animals like sheep and dog. You’ll even see cool sculptures, including a praying mantis pushing and cow pushing a shopping cart. As such, you’ll find plenty of interesting shopping venues too, from cafes to boutique shops and galleries. Be sure to visit Castle Pamela, home to one of the largest doll, toy, and train collections in New Zealand. Also, don’t miss out on Bugger Café, where the first thing you’ll notice is their slogan, “The Unusually Unique Universally Useful Utterance.” Speaks for itself huh?
