Huánuco

Based in central Peru, the city of Huánuco is deemed by its locals as the best-weathered thanks to its climate. Due to its comfortable elevation, the city enjoys the year-round warm weather. Those traveling to Huánuco will find a number of interesting attractions, including Peru’s oldest Andean archeological sites, the Temple of Kotosh. Do some hiking up Huánuco’s hills, and you’ll find the ancient ruins of Huánuco Viejo and Tantamayo—both a cut above the rest of the ruins near the city. There’s also the Cueva de Las Lachuzas. Based in the district of Mariano Damaso Beraun, the cave is home to guacharos and bats. You’ll find this interesting cave in the Sleeping Beauty mountain range.
