Puerto Maldonado

Puerto Maldonado is the capital of the Madre de Dios region in southeast Peru. The metropolis offers a range of interesting attractions, including streets bustling with mototaxis and shops, the Plaza de Armas, and of course, the Amazon Basin. If you’re interested in Puerto Maldonado’s outdoors, you’re probably looking to hit its jungle headfirst; granted, no trip to Peru is complete without an Amazonian experience. You’ll find a vibrant wildlife in the region, including macaw parrots, clay licks, and parakeets, to name a few. There are also great lakes to enjoy, including Sandoval Lake, another location filled with wildlife. To reach the Amazon, you’ll only have to go 20 minutes from Puerto Maldonado. That said, it’s a great place to pit stop before entering the Peruvian Jungle.
