Additional info

Being one of the largest protected natural areas in Portugal, Montesinho Natural Park has plenty of marked trails, along rivers, through chestnut and oak forests and rocky ridges, home to 80% of mammals of Portugal, such as wolf, red deer, roe deer, otter and wild boar. In the sky, one hundred and fifty species of birds makes it a paradise for birdwatchers.
The region of Trás-os-Montes, one of the least travelled of Portugal, still keeps many untouched sceneries, from the monumental cliffs of Douro Internacional to the gentle hills, covered with olive trees that produce some of the best olive oils of the country. In this admirable mosaic of landscapes, the small villages, integrated into nature itself, maintain strong cultural traditions.
