Safari tent in Tissamaharama, Southern Province

2 guests

The property consists of wide and spacious tent camps with separate toilet, shower and other required facilities. The tents offer two spacious beds in each with comfortable linens, blankets and pillows. There is also room to put your things so that you aren’t living out of your suitcase the whole trip. Out on your terrace you’ll find chairs and a little table, perfect for lounging and enjoying the beautiful scenery around you.

There is a hammock in which you can lounge and read a good book or simply relax with nature after the long and exhausting day you’ve had of safari or other activities. Imagine half snoozing in a hammock and the only sounds you hear are the singing of the birds and the soft rustling of other creatures in the brush. You can either take a shower at the facility offered at the camp or have a safe bath in the stream while getting in touch with the natural rain forest that surrounds you.

Scenic views
This campsite is located in a serene environment near a stream inside Yala (Ruhuna) National Park, which itself is situated in the Arid Zone of Sri Lanka’s southeast region. The National Park spreads out over an area of 151,778 hectares, but only 14,100 hectares of the entire area are open to the public. Yala National Park is also comprised of several major habitat types including dunes, scrub forests, riverine forests, rocky out-crops, secondary forests and coastal lagoons with mangrove forests. Such a high biodiversity of plants has resulted in an incredible number of different species of animals and birds.
Activities near Tissamaharama
Most of your experience will be based around safaris. You can opt for full days or half days of seeing the animals in this unique and wonderful setting. The dry months are from May to September and are the best time for viewing big game including leopards and sloth bears. From October to April, the park becomes home to many species of migratory birds and is a hot spot for bird watching. The first few months of the year are also good for observing leopard cubs.
