Sri Lanka is a tropical island with a diverse range of species located in a relatively small land area. It has been rated one of the top 25 global ecological hotspots and boasts a variety of elusive animals like the Asian Leopard, Sloth Bear and the Asian Elephant. Sri Lanka is also the home to 487 species of bird including sea birds. 34 of these bird species are endemic. In addition to this the island’s numerous wildlife reserves are home to Wild Buffalo, Spotted Deer, Sambar deer, Crocodiles, Jackals and Wild Boar. The Asian Palm Civet and Grey Langur are also present in varying concentrations across the individual parks.
