Nearby attractions within the AONB include Ardingly Reservoir and Ashdown Forest. Even if they have never been to the latter, guests will likely already have some familiarity with it, as it was A.A. Milne and E. H. Shepard's inspiration for the Hundred Acre Wood in which the Winnie-the-Pooh stories take place. In addition to its literary significance, the forest is also a nationally-designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, Special Protection Area, and Special Area of Conservation due to its ecologically important heathland habitats and the abundant species of birds that they support.
The site is just 15 minutes from the town of Crawley, where guests will find the nearest international airport and a number of shops, restaurants, and attractions such as the botanic gardens and country estate of Wakehurst Place, the ruins and garden of Nymans, and Tilgate Park. At the latter, guests will find Tilgate Lake, a silvicultural forest, a treetop adventure course, and a nature center that is home to more than 100 species of wildlife and birds, including otters, pigs, mongooses, meerkats, owls, and parrots.

With more than 1,200 miles of footpaths winding through the surrounding High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), guests will have ample options for hiking and biking through the area's bucolic woodlands, heathlands, and farmlands.
While exploring these footpaths, guests will have many chances to do a spot of birdwatching and wildlife viewing. Guests may encounter rabbits, deer, and a variety of birds in the surrounding woods. For more birdwatching, they can head to nearby Ashdown Forest, the heathlands of which provide ecologically crucial habitats to abundant species of birds. To see wildlife in a more controlled, up-close setting, guests can visit the Tilgate Nature Centre, which is home to more than 100 species of birds and mammals.
The nature center is located at Tilgate Park, where guests will also find the Tree Top Adventure course and Tilgate Lake.
