About this place
This glamping lodge offers the ultimate luxury off-grid glamping break in a modern yet quirky octagonal wooden lodge, with cosy beds, wood-burning stove and incredible natural surroundings for complete escapism from the hectic norm of modern life.
An excellent choice for an eco-conscious getaway, the lodge is one of only a handful at Oaktree Lane, a natural glamping and camping site which attempts to be as environmentally friendly as possible in every way. Having deliberately created an off-grid environment where guests can truly switch off and relax, you can properly escape the constant lure of checking emails or updating social media and instead reconnect with your natural surroundings. Whether it’s a short break or a longer holiday, you can enjoy top notch facilities whist relaxing with just the sounds of the countryside for the company – blissful!
Deceptively spacious inside, the lodge can comfortably sleep up to 5 people, offering a double bed, 2 single day beds, and a single futon. A wood-burning stove means you will all be warm and toasty throughout your stay, and underfoot, coir matting will keep your feet warm whatever the weather outside. Add in the privacy and comfort of your own private field kitchen and individual shower room a short distance away, and you have a truly luxurious glamping getaway.
You’ll find all the bedding, sheets and blankets required inside – perfect for getting super cosy! The well-equipped kitchen has all the amenities and equipment you need to whip up an easy supper to enjoy in your cosy surroundings, there is even a complimentary bag of logs waiting for you to stoke up the fire on arrival. Proudly off-grid, solar lighting provides enough light to relax, so put away those phones and enjoy the rural charm and peace of the surrounding countryside.
The shower room is located within a block a short distance away, although is a private facility for your exclusive use during your stay, comprising a modern shower enclosure, basin and WC.
The lodge has with its own private decking area, carefully placed to make sure you can see for miles around and boasting completely unspoilt views in every direction. A BBQ completes the set-up, perfect for hazy warm summer evenings dining al fresco, and amazing star-gazing after dark.
Fresh eggs and local produce is available to buy on-site, rain-water is collected and re-used, and solar power and LED lighting is used where possible around the site, with minimal electricity use.
Recycling points are provided across the farm for the use of guests; this significantly reduces the amount of waste that goes into landfill. Food waste is also gathered and composted.
Locally, there is plenty to see and do, and Oaktree Lane is ideally located with easy access to both Devon and Cornwall. The only thing you need to decide is where you’ll head first and how you’ll fit it all in!
Roadford Reservoir is only a couple of miles away and is not only a great place to take a leisurely stroll surrounded by water and countryside, but also boasts a range of water sports and activities – from sailing and wind surfing through to kayaking and paddle-boarding. They offer lessons during the summer months and it is worth exploring during your stay.
Dartmoor National Park is only 12 miles away, so get out there and simply enjoy a hike, get on a bike or even take to horseback – no matter how you experience the moor, it is an amazing place to be!
The town of Bude is roughly 25 miles distant and has it all; some great beaches, plenty of independent shops restaurants and bars.
Access Info: Parking is a short walk over the field from the lodge, and there are a couple of steps up to the decking and entrance.
