Accommodation Description

  • Kid-friendly
This holiday home away from home is a bijou and boutique living van from 1904. Set in the beautiful Kent Countryside, the accommodation has been set up to satisfy all your needs for a luxury break. Almost everything you'll need for a peaceful rural retreat has been provided plus some luxuries and also a range of extras that you might want. This includes crockery and cutlery, a fire pit and a barbecue, a safari kitchen with a two ring gas hob, a cool box to keep your food in as well as essential salt, pepper and oil - and of course a bottle opener. There is a full size double bed in the van, a fold down table and chairs and games and a pack of cards to keep you entertained in the evening. The only neighbors you'll have here are the pet lambs. Everything the site owners do is designed to have as small an impact on the local environment as possible so they try and encourage visitors to leave only footprints and take only memories.

Location + Surroundings

This glamping retreat is in Roughway Lane near Dunks Green in the United Kingdom. It is a historic ‘orchard’ of ancient cob nut trees. It runs alongside the River Bourne in the Garden of England on the edge of the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Roughway is less than an hour from the center of London yet you will rarely, if ever, hear a car let alone a train go by.

Activities

General activities
  • Fishing
  • Horseback riding
  • Wildlife watching
Adventures and sports
  • Biking

Because this retreat is less than an hour from the center of London, it is truly in the Garden of England with Royal Tunbridge Wells 40 minutes away and the market towns of Sevenoaks and West Malling less than half an hour. The best way to enjoy this rural setting is to just kick back and relax on the banks of the river Bourne which borders your own patch of paradise. If you're feeling energetic, the Greensand Way is a delightful footpath running, as it's name suggests, along the greensand way - a generally dry route across the county. There are many other footpaths in the locality and the site owners can recommend several circular routes from the Retreat. The local pub is a five minute walk away, with two others a brisk half hour away and a third less than a mile away.
