This cottage was originally built as a log cabin before the Civil War, and the property itself is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located three miles southeast of Front Royal, Virginia, and is situated mere steps away from the world-renowned Appalachian Trail, which passes through the nearby wine country just to the north and the inimitable Shenandoah National Park just to the south. Local tourist attraction Skyline Caverns features plenty of impressive geological formations, while the town of Front Royal offers history and antiquing, great restaurants, micro-brewery, meadery and cidery, and ice cream, the Virginia Beer Museum, and a very welcoming Visitors Center. Guests can swim at the local 4-H Center or take in a game at the Bing Crosby Stadium.

The Skyline Drive begins at the southern edge of Front Royal and proceeds to snake through increasingly-impressive territory, with vistas and lookouts, affording spectacular views of the Shenandoah Valley to the west and quaint farm country to the east. A variety of hiking trails are within easy access both inside and outside the park with overlooks, waterfalls, a swimming hole, or an old farmstead as your destination. Also noteworthy is the Shenandoah River, for canoeing, kayaking and rafting, and the nearby State Park of the same name, offering water sports, picnicking and a canopy tour with a zip-line, all less than 20 minutes away.

The property is situated advantageously close to Washington Dulles International Airport, which is less than 60 miles away and features an abundance of crucial domestic and international connections. Guests can also take the Virginia Breeze bus from Washington, DC or Dulles, or points south to Front Royal, and we'll pick up and drop off at the local bus station.
