Colebrook is named after Colebrook County, England, and is an authentic New England small town - ideal for escaping to in order to get back to the basics. This charming town has welcoming locals, picturesque local architecture, and a Historic Place on the National Register. Make sure you try some of the delicious local food and spend enough time in town to really soak up the relaxing atmosphere. It is close to Algonquin State Forest, 2545 acres of stunning forest ideal for hiking, wildlife viewing, hunting, and letterboxing. It's also close to Sandisfield State Forest, which has excellent fishing, swimming, and hiking. Colebrook is also only 30 miles from the famous Mark Twain House, which is well worth a visit.
