South Texas

South Texas refers to the southern region of the state of Texas, which includes from San Antonio on downwards until the Rio Grande and the Gulf of Mexico. Often called the Rio Grande Valley, due to the aforementioned proximity to the famous river, South Texas consists of 41 counties, and the three largest cities are San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Laredo. San Antonio is the second largest city in the entire state and home to The Alamo, a historical site that simply cannot be missed while glamping in South Texas. Head down to the San Antonio River Walk, too, and you’ll find a hub for great shopping, eating, and more. Corpus Christi is renowned for being a seaside city, with the Port of Corpus Christi being the fifth largest in the whole country. Here is where you’ll find plenty of beaches upon which to relax and soak up the Texan sun or hit the waves and learn a new water sport. Round out your luxury camping trip in South Texas by heading to Laredo to check out the San Augustin Plaza, the TAMIU Planetarium, and the Republic of the Rio Grande Museum.
