The screened-in front porch is equipped with patio chairs, allowing guests to unwind with a good book or a cup of tea after a day of canoeing and hiking around the swamp. The cabin also comes with linens, so guests will not need to worry about bringing sheets or pillows. Cooking with a flame is not allowed in the accommodation, so guests can rent a charcoal grill from the nearby campground store and have a barbecue right out front of the cabin at the picnic table by the door.

Location + Surroundings
St. Mary’s River, which also flows through the area, is a 126 mile-long body of water that courses along the Florida-Georgia border, emptying out at the Cumberland Island National Seashore on the Atlantic Coast. The property is just one hour north of Jacksonville, Florida, as well.

Guests of the campground will find plenty to do in Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, with its scenic swamplands and abundant animal populations located just outside of the accommodation gate. The black water swamp is an excellent location for fishing or canoeing while trying to spot the various species inhabiting the area, or guests can head to the historic Chesser Island Homestead for a glimpse of life as it was for the region’s earliest settlers.
Glampers can also go paddling and fishing on the St. Mary’s River, or head east to Cumberland Island and the surrounding beaches for a day on the ocean. In Jacksonville, guests can enjoy an excellent meal in town or spend a few hours in the Jacksonville Zoo or at the Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary. The city is also home to a number of museums, as well as bars and clubs for glampers seeking a night out.
