Townsend is a tranquil little community just off of the Interstate 95, which makes an ideal base for glampers who are looking for a relaxing vacation spot. Drop into Georgia Peach World for an ode to all things made of the famous Georgian peaches, from salsas to bread to wine, or check out Georgia Coastal Gourmet Farms for an organic agricultural experience. Townsend is also close to some excellent local sites, such as Sapelo Island, Little St. Simons Island, and the Altamaha Wildlife Management Area. Here you can explore the beauty of the islands, swamplands, and forest on one of the numerous hiking trails.
