The Appalachian Mountains have many beautiful scenic lookouts for photographers and those who just enjoy views. A short drive from the cabin, there is Blowing Rock and the Pisgah National Forest where guests can hike trails. For family entertainment, there is the Tweetsie Railroad and the Wild West-themed park and playground. For those who love caves and minerals, visit the Linville Caverns to see formations of stalactites and stalagmites. For greater thrills, guests can visit Hawksnest Ziplines, and strap in and ride three miles, with two of the nine cables reaching over 2,000 feet above the trees and creeks. A quick drive to downtown Boone, guests will find cafes, the Mast General Store, and antique shopping. Students of the nearby Appalachian State University can be seen roaming off-campus, studying at one of the numerous coffee shops.
