Lake Lure is in the Hickory Nut Gorge, home to the famous Chimney Rock, and hosts the infamous Dirty Dancing Film Festival. The Lake has been featured in many films, including the aforementioned Dirty Dancing, Forrest Gump, and Last of the Mohicans, and is simply stunning.
There are multiple hiking trails for all skill levels nearby, all of which are guaranteed to have a rewarding view at the end. There are three local waterfalls in the area - Pearson’s Falls, Big Bradley Falls, and Little Bradley Falls. The local Equestrian Centers offer many classes and hold the highly esteemed World Equestrian Games.
