Guests can explore all this on their own by following the property’s trail system, or take guided hikes to see more and have explanations by knowledgeable guides. Most of the neighboring villages are inhabited by Mayans, so guests will be able to experience their different culture. Glampers will also be able to see celebrations such as the Toledo Cacao Festival and Maya Day.
This property is situated between the villages of San Felipe and Santa Ana, where many of the property’s employees are from. Guests may even be able to visit Mayan homes and farms, allowing glampers to have further insight into their world. This site is also close to the Agua Caliente Luha Wild Life Sanctuary and the Columbia River Forest Reserve, giving guests even more magnificent views to enjoy.
The Moho River runs along the property and is clean and deep enough to swim in as well as paddle along in kayaks and canoes. The fruit trees are organically grown and the guests can pick from them whenever they wish. The surrounding exotic flowers attract many kinds of wildlife, especially birds.
The site tries to be as eco-friendly as possible. Being so close to the river it is important to not harm the environment. Solar panels and biodegradable soaps and cleaning products are used. All water waste goes to septic tanks that lead to an underground leech field, fertilizing the surrounding plants.
The property is also part of a reforestation program – teak, mahogany, and fruit trees can be found around the property, on land that had previously been cleared, burned, and farmed. These trees not only provide shade but they also increase nitrogen levels which then aid the cacao crops, stabilize the river banks, diversify the overall sustainability of the site, and allow for delicious fresh fruit trees.
The property has also developed a partnership with Sustainable Harvest International, who has established a demonstrative organic garden for farming workshops and fresh produce.
