With its sheltered bay and the outlying cluster of islands, the Maraú Peninsula simply begs to be explored by boat. Local beaches are magnificent and the surf is second to none. For water enthusiasts, there are exotic coral reefs, deep natural pools and freshwater lakes to enjoy. On land, the jungle surrounding the lodge teems with exotic wildlife, such as marmosets, anteaters, and armadillos that are common sightings in the area, as well as rare species of plants that are also in abundance. Dozens of nature trails start from the lodge and experts are on hand to explain all there is to know about the region's diverse flora and fauna.

Taipu de Fora is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Bahia and one of the Maraú Peninsula's main attractions. World-renowned for its natural swimming pools, it is paradise for snorkelers and divers and boasts an abundance of marine life including 2,000 varieties of tropical fish. Turtles, manta-rays, and whales often visit these waters, and best of all, low tides in the evening make night snorkeling or diving an alluring option.

The local coastline offers fantastic surfing opportunities for beginners and pros alike. Should guests wish to learn to surf, private lessons can be arranged on a private stretch of beach. The calm waters of Cassange Lagoon are ideal for stand-up paddle boarding, and the crystal clear lagoon is just two minute's walk from the glamping site.

The Maraú River empties into Camamu Bay as a powerful cascading waterfall. Not only is it a spectacular sight to behold, the sheer force of the water makes for a great natural hydro-massage. Guests are invited to take a picnic along or alternatively, they can sample the local freshwater crayfish at the charming family owned restaurant on site.

Humpback whales come to the local waters to breed in October and November providing a rare opportunity for glampers to get up close and personal with the magnificent marine mammals.

The Maraú Peninsula has more than 40 kilometers of beaches lining its coastline, providing an excellent way for guests to explore all their nooks and crannies by bike or quads. Guests should request hiring quad bikes upon arrival. Much of the Maraú coastline is a protected conservation area. Home to the world's second largest rainforest, the Atlantic Forest, it is a fascinating place to explore on foot. Hiking, bird-watching, and guided nature walks offer unrivaled access to rare species of flora and fauna.

Island hopping is a fun day activity for all to join in on! Camamu Bay, the third largest in Brazil, is littered with tiny tropical islands ideal for day trips. Some are blissfully deserted, others are home to small villages with simple restaurants serving delicious fresh lobster and clams. Pedra Furada is one of the most scenic, boasting a natural stone arch carved out by seawater, and Goió island, the smallest of the cluster, has a picture-perfect crescent of white sand perfect for sun-worshipers.
