Due to popular demand, we have added 2 more gazebos to our over 100 + acre property. This luxurious gazebo is located in our old white oak forest, between beautiful woodlands, meadows, and a pristine private lake.It has a beautiful and comfortable bed. It has an additional day bed overlooking the wood-burning fireplace. It has a credenza pump sink, as well as a storage bench with 2 coolers. This well-appointed space also has a gorgeous cabinet with Royal Daulton fine china. The cabinet contains everything you need. The outhouse has a foot pump sink, towels, soap, toilet paper, and a shower area. The canoe and lake are a short 2-minute walk down a forest path.

Each of the 3 gazebos is about a 3-5 minute walk between them, so privacy is definitely not an issue!

Breathe in the fresh air, reconnect with nature and give your body and soul a well-deserved break. Let the peeper frogs lull you to sleep and the distant call of the loons be your wake-up call.

PLEASE NOTE:
This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc or try to sneak them in. This also applies to service animals, unfortunately. Even though different terms are used, a dog is a dog whether it is your pet or service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds and we ask that you kindly respect this.

We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience or impacting it for other guests.

The property is surrounded by a pristine private lake with a stream and river running through it. You might wake up to a deer outside your window, or see the wild turkeys in the field. There are beavers, otters, and muskrats on the lake, as well as a family of loons that will swim up fairly close to your canoe. See the glow of the fireflies light up the forest in July.
Forage for wild mushrooms in our woods. The wildlife and nature are everywhere!

Additional info

Historical Significance of the property: When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970s, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

A few steps away from the Gazebo you will find a small dock with a canoe, a kayak, paddles, and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!

We are in a quiet and rural setting, but also close to a few small towns. Hastings, Warkworth and Campbellford make up Trent Hills. Our closest town is Hastings ( 10 mins north ) and there you will find a grocery store for all your food needs, should you choose to not pack food. Hastings also has a LCBO. Warkworth is a quaint and artsy little town. On the short Main Street, you will find The Lucky Stars Cafe, Centre & Main Artisan Chocolate, a couple of gift shops and antiques. Campbellford is the bigger town and will have a lot more going on. If you choose to eat out there are some great choices in the area. In Hastings McGillecafey's is a pub style restaurant. Caper's in Campbellford is one of our go to places. Dorset will make you a delicious prime rib au jus, complete with roasted root vegetables. Campbellford is also home to Antonia's Bistro where Ravi makes the best butter chicken, with a side of papadums. In Warkworth, there is Sper restaurant. Chef Doug Hope makes the best farm-to-table meals. Reservations are required. We also have the Villa Conti restaurant and vineyard 15 mins from us in Oak Heights. Tomasso and Bambi will make you feel right at home with their incredible wine assortment and authentic Italian cuisine.
