HEATING

Please, note that the wood stove is the main heating source for the yurt, so if you are staying during the colder months PRIOR EXPERIENCE OF MAKING AND MAINTAINING FIRE IS ESSENTIAL to keep you warm and safe. If you have not used the wood stove before, please, don't book this place if you want to come from mid September to beginning of June. The firewood is included in the price of your stay. We want to ensure your safety, so it is essential for you have have a prior experience of operating a wood stove, especially if you are visiting from mid September to beginning of June.

PETS

Please note that if you are planning to bring a pet, there is an additional fee charged for this. When you book your stay, add your pet to the booking , so the fee is calculated and added to the overall amount. In case you miss it, the fee will be requested retroactively. We ask you to keep your pet on the leash all the time when they are outside of the yurt because there are other animals on the property and we are in close proximity to the road.

WATER

During the WARMER MONTHS (from 15th of May to 21st of October) there is running water in the outdoor kitchen. During the rest of the year there is no running water due to low temperatures, but we will provide you with 14 gallons of water in jugs that can be used for drinking, cooking and cleaning dishes.

ELECTRICITY

The yurt is powered by solar system, so you will be able to use lights and charge your devices. During the months when there is not enough sun light to power the panels, we'll show you how to use a generator to power the batteries in case you run out of the electricity.

KITCHEN

The kitchen is stocked with pots and pans, cups, glasses, plates and cutlery and other helpful cooking utensils. There is a propane stove that can be used for cooking. In the colder months you can use the indoor wood stove for cooking on top of it. You can also find a fridge in the kitchen, just note that from 31st of October to 1 of May it is disconnected from the power, but you can still use it to store your food as it is cold enough outside.

OUTHOUSE

The cedar outhouse is located outside, it is compost style, so you have to put a scoop of provided wood shavings on the matter every time you go to the bathroom.

SHOWER

The warm cedar outdoor shower is accessible only from May 15th to October 21st. In the rest of the months, there is no running water and the shower is not operational.

BUGS AND ANIMALS

Please be aware that this is a camping experience, so bugs are a natural occurrence here. During May and June we have black flies and how much of them we get and how long they last depend on a year and it can't be predicted. Then it changes to a mosquito season and if you are usually bothered by them, please bring a bug spray. We encourage the use of natural repellants not containing DEET as it is harmful to the environment and humans. Other insects like flies, spiders and others are also a part of the natural experience and it is impossible to make sure that they don't get inside the yurt. The encounters with raccoons, skunks, porcupines, deers and others are possible but rare.

LOCATION

The yurt is located closely to a rural 80km/h road, so you may hear cars passing by but you won't see the road as there are trees and a small garden separating the road and the road.
The property is conveniently located 15 min drive from the ferry terminal, 20 min drive to Providence Bay beach town and 20 min drive from Mindemoya where there is a grocery store and other stores you might need to access on your trip.

CHECK IN AND CHECK OUT

Please, arrive between 3pm and 9pm and check out is by 10am.
