An Australia house rental for families

Bedarra Island, Queensland

Detailed location provided after booking

Scenic views
This beach house is located on Bedarra Island in the tropical waters of Northern Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, part of the Family Group of Islands. The beach house experience creates a unique contrast to the modern-day beachcomber. Offering the ultimate in privacy, the island's stunning natural beauty is highlighted by pure white beaches, turquoise waters, soaring granite boulders, and lush green rainforest. Nowhere else on Queensland's palm-fringed coast will guests be as close to the Great Barrier Reef, only 28 kilometers east of Dunk Island.

Banfield called the reef their coral gardens, and what guests see today is about 10,000 years old. It is one of the seven natural wonders of the world. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest structure ever created on earth by living organisms. The GBR was declared a World Heritage Site in 1981, thanks to artist John Busst, who originally lived on Bedarra Island. Busst is also the original “Greenie” from this area. Scattered throughout this entire area is an intricate maze of submerged reefs, beautiful coral cays and a large number of continental islands, most of which are surrounded by their own fringing reefs. The islands were once mountain peaks on the coastline of Australia. When sea levels rose after the last Ice Age, islands like Dunk and Bedarra were formed and coral reefs have developed round many of them.

This site is proud to announce that they have been awarded Ecotourism in the Eco-certification (IV) program by EcoTourism Australia. Which means they are accredited by T.QUAL (Australian Tourism Quality assured). For those wishing for a "sustainable" holiday in the Great Barrier Reef, consider this glamping site.

Apart from plenty of peace, quiet, and privacy, glampers will be able to participate in a number of different activities while glamping on Bedarra Island. At just a two-minute walk from the accommodation, there are two private beaches: Doorila Bay, best for swimming and relaxation, and Coomool Bay, which is great for snorkeling. There are two sun loungers on the beach at Doorila Bay for guests to use.

Another popular activity while on the island is kayaking, which is a wonderful way to discover all of the other secluded beaches in the area. Guests are provided with a tandem Viking kayak with viewing portholes and life jackets. Glampers must leave the kayak above the high tide mark in the trees throughout their stay. If guests are adventurous and in good shape, they can circumnavigate the island in two to three hours. If this is something glampers are interested in doing, make sure to let someone know before leaving and take plenty of water in the backpack.

Other popular activities in the area include picnicking, swimming, meditation, hiking, having drinks at sunset, going on a scenic boat tour or sunset cruise, fishing, Great Barrier Reef diving, reef snorkeling and jet skiing.
