This property is located in the Bahia region of Brazil and is 400 kilometers to the south of the capital of the region, Salvador. It is in the town of Itacare, which is a small fishing town in the heart of cocoa plantation lands. It is a typical Brazilian pousada—similar to a bed and breakfast, a sort of inn or guest house. The property is large and home to many different rooms on site, all made of clay, wood, straw, lime, and cotton. These are purposefully all without television.

Nomade: This room is on the ground floor and sleeps up to three guests. There is air conditioning as well as a Moroccan mirror. It has a balcony with a eucalyptus wooden sofa and has access to the Alpinas garden. The wardrobe and bedside tables were designed by the owners of the property.

Canopeia: On the ground floor, this room measures 25 meters squared and can accommodate up to two guests. It has a wooden porch with nice views of the garden.

L’orange Bleue: This room is 13.5 meters squared, on the ground floor, and ideal for a couple wanting a cozy “nest”. It has a private bathroom as well as Wi-Fi access. It has views and access to the Dracenas garden.

Flower Power: This room is on the ground floor, and measures 24 meters squared. It can sleep up to three guests. It has air conditioning as well as a Moroccan mirror. It has a colonial cabinet, as well as African and Brazilian fabrics. It has a balcony with a sofa as well as a eucalyptus plant and has views and access to the Alpinias Garden.

Indian Dream: This suite is on the ground floor, measures 23 meters squared, and sleeps up to four people. There is air conditioning and Wi-Fi. It has a balcony and a jasmine and dracaena garden.

There is a beautiful swimming pool on site for the guests’ free usage. There is a deck in the mango tree for you to enjoy closer access to nature and an even more unique experience. If you would like a bite to eat, the mango deck is furnished with a snack bar providing pies, sandwiches, soups and salads.

There is a traditional indigenous housing structure on site, called an oca, made entirely of wood. Activities and events such as samba, capoeira, forró, and African dances can be enjoyed, as well as yoga, tai chi or biodance.

If you would like to enjoy a relaxing massage, the gazebo offers these services. Hot and cold stones as well as other Eastern massages are practiced. This gazebo is built right on the edge of the forest, so that you can focus solely on yourself, and relax and enjoy your time here.

There is a lounge area under the cashew tree, arranged as a reading room. Breakfast is included in the rates, serving natural and healthy options such as govaya juice, fruit salad, fried bananas, tapioca, passion fruit jam, or pancakes.

This particular one is authentic in that it is right by the forest to ensure you are truly experiencing Brazil as the locals know it. The site is placed not far from a road, and close to many beaches, allowing for the best of both worlds – you will be able to experience the relaxing holiday you wish for without having to sacrifice access to other attractions.

Though there are a lot of possibilities of activities to engage in on site, you may just want to explore the surroundings. The road is small and not busy – it allows for the observation of daily happenings and customs of the locals. The garden on the property is amazing for many reasons – not only will you be able to enjoy all the flowers and trees, but also you will be able to eat some of the fruits. Centuries-old mango trees, banana trees, papyrus, coconut, jack fruits, citrus, cashews, and much more are just a few steps away. Bromeliads and orchids also attract amazing and colorful birds, which you can observe from your very own accommodation or while having a massage.

Ambuba River: You can make this an expedition, where you can canoe across the Contas River, than bike up the Marau Peninsula, up to Ambuba where you can then rent a kayak to explore the emerald forest, the waterfall and the mangrove.
