Recognized as one of the ten best wilderness lodges in the world by Outside Magazine, this company’s main lodge on the Tahuayo River is not a resort, nor a hotel, but a rustic lodge, comfortable for adventurous travelers. There are fifteen cabins; some are honeymoon cabins, with a king-size bed, while others are cabins with two beds, and a few are family-style cabins with one large bed and several single beds. Half of the cabins now have new private bathrooms. The other half of the cabins have shared bathrooms. Cabins with private bathrooms are assigned on the basis of earliest reservation.

Each cabin is raised above the jungle floor on stilts and is connected to other buildings of the lodge by a raised boardwalk.

Scenic views
Biologists refer to this region as the "green paradise" of the Amazon forest. This region boasts exceptional national parks and reserves that contain the best wildlife viewing experiences to be found in the Amazon. The most mega-diverse region in all of the Amazon may be the Area de Conservacion Regional Comunal de Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo (ACRCTT).

This is the only company that offers access to this magnificent reserve for tourists. Peru's first state reserve, it covers an expanded area of precious, ecologically diverse western Amazon rainforest. This area also has the world's richest variety of plants, amphibians, reptiles and birds. In 2003, Chicago's Field Museum's Rapid Biology Inventory #11 found more species of mammals and trees in the ACRCTT than any other documented natural area in the entire world.

The reserve's mammal diversity has been proven to be the greatest of any region in all of the Amazon. The number of primate species is the highest of any protected park or reserve in the world.

This glamping site does not only aspire to offer a good quality tourism program in the Amazon, but they also have a greater mission, that is to enhance a sustainable development of the region. They worry about the protection and the conservation of the area. They collaborate with the indigenous community by employing them as guides and conduct educational programs and scholarships. They also support sustainable economic initiatives, as well as conduct scientific investigations of plants, animals and ecosystems.

The strength of Amazonia's itinerary lies in the incredible amount of choices available to you. The great ecological diversity allows an opportunity to see and do many things. High quality experienced tour guides are provided upon request.

The lodges on the Tahuayo River have access to a great variety of ecosystems that you can explore as well as many native communities downriver. There are sufficient English speaking native men and women guides so that each person can go at their own pace and according to their interests. This is ideal for people who do not want to be stuck with a large group on a pre-determined.

You can choose a photographer's pace, a soft pace or a ruggedly adventurous pace. You can concentrate more on birdwatching, canoeing, canopy exploration, fishing, or native culture. You can be active all day long, including before breakfast or well into the evening.

Families can have a private guide who specializes in working with pre-teens or young teens. Special itineraries are available for weddings, honeymoons, anniversaries and other special occasions.

There are many facilities, offered by no other tour operators, to give you unique experiences in exploring the rainforest. One example is the canopy zipline system. Many companies have canopy walkways or towers, but with this company can you actually fly from tree to tree, with nothing underfoot except a hundred feet of rainforest.

Tourists with passionate interests in primates, orchids, native culture or other subjects may request to participate in scientific studies sponsored by the glamping site.

The trail grid behind the research center lodge offers 52 miles of hiking over 1000 acres. It is the longest trail grid in the Amazon. This is the best hike known in the Amazon for viewing primates in their natural environment.

Travelers thirsting for the ultimate in adventure can leave the lodge with their guide and camp in the old growth terra firme forest in the interior of the reserve. Listed below is a sample itinerary. Most are available year round, but if there are recommended seasons, these are noted in parentheses. All are guided by the local staff. Please inquire to hear about all the exciting possibilities that await you!
