Loreto

Visit the region of Loreto, Peru’s largest department and the least populated. The combination makes it an ideal place to get lost in nature. Dense vegetation, forests with low hills, and the Yanayacu River encompass the region. If you plan on visiting Loreto, be sure to check out Iquito, the capital of the department based in the Peruvian jungle. The port city is unique with its jungle lodges and tribal villages. You’ll find yourself aboard a boat when visiting the city, as one cannot enter by road. Be sure to visit the district of Belén. Known for its open-air street markets, the district is home to farmers that paddle through the swamped streets with their merchandise aboard. Definitely a unique experience, you can’t go wrong with choosing Loreto as your next destination in Peru.
