If you’re seeking a remote experience then Cape York should be your target destination; a peninsula on the northern tip of the area that is totally unspoiled. Nearby and more developed is the Tropical North, which is great for culture as well as beaches.

Winter is the perfect time for a holiday in a Queensland beach house, as this is when the weather will be warmest and you’ll be able to enjoy as much time outdoors on the coast as possible. Between June and August you’ll get the hottest and driest weather, as well as the best conditions for swimming and snorkelling.

If you want to go surfing whilst you’re in Queensland then June to August is also a great time to visit, but some of the best waves are found on the coast just before this between May and July. The height of summer can be busy, so if you want uninterrupted time in the waves then a shoulder season trip might be a better idea.
