This historic cottage is located near the town of Ooty in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu, India, and can accommodate four guests for a getaway to the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. Dating back to the 1890s, the cottage has been thoughtfully restored to preserve and reflect its heritage while at the same time providing guests with a comfortable, modern accommodation. It has two bedrooms and two full bathrooms.

Inside each of the bedrooms, guests will find a king-size bed set beneath high ceilings, bathed in ample natural light, and complemented by a charming ensuite bathroom. The site's electricity is 100% generated by solar power, and its water is provided by natural spring water that flows to the site from the rocks behind it. Rather than wildlife-harming electric fencing, protection from the many animals that live in the surrounding forests is achieved through off-ground elevation of the site's glamping tents and adherence to protocols that respect the wildlife and cultivate an ethos of coexistence.

Given its off-grid nature and its location, which is set at end of a 1.9-mile dirt road within the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the site is a true getaway destination located in a lush, wildlife-rich natural setting.
