Scenic views
This accommodation is located at an off-grid, ecologically sustainable glamping property in the Nilgiris District of the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India, where it is situated about one and a half miles to the north of the small village of Ebbanadu. Nestled within the western flank of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve, the site is comprised of 150 acres of forests known as shola forests or simply sholas--a name that derives from the Tamil word for "grove." These patches of tropical or sub-tropical montane forest fill the valleys and hillsides of the region's rolling grasslands, forming a lushly vegetated, patchwork-like landscape of verdant, undulating terrain.

From the property, guests will enjoy views of the Moyar Gorge, the Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, the Bandipur Tiger Reserve, and the Mysore Plains, while enjoying an aural backdrop composed solely of bird songs, wildlife calls, and the murmuring of a nearby stream. On-site watering holes and salt licks provide guests with opportunities to see elephants and some of the many other species of wildlife that inhabit the surrounding biosphere reserve, which is home to more than 150 species of mammals, 350 species of birds, 110 species of reptiles and amphibians, 316 species of butterflies, and 3,300 species of flowering plants—including 132 endemic species and 175 species of orchids. Notable wildlife species include Bengal tigers, Indian leopards, mongooses, Malabar giant squirrels, gray langurs, lion-tailed macaques, and Nilgiri Tahrs. The latter two species are endangered, and the reserve provides a safe haven for their largest remaining populations.

The site is about an hour from the town of Ooty, where guests will find attractions such as the Government Botanical Gardens, the Government Rose Garden, Thunder World theme park, and the mountain of Doddabetta. It is about three hours from the city of Coimbatore, where the nearest international airport is located.
