This property is just 90 minutes drive north-east from Christchurch, perched high above the coastline on an historic Greta Valley sheep farm, with sweeping sea views and fabulous sunrises.

Every direction you look there are stunning views, from the rolling hills dotted with sheep, to the snow-capped mountain views out the bathroom window, to the endless sea views – imagine how magical it is to wake up to the sun rising out of the water right in front of you!

Your journey to the Pod starts with a scenic drive through a beautiful and historic farming area.

Take your time and enjoy the scenery, which switches from rolling farmland to forest and back to farmland again. If you are lucky you might even get to see a cow or two wandering right beside the road or meet the local farmer moving a mob of sheep along the road.

After about 25 minutes you will reach the Pod carpark. Leave your large luggage items in your locked car (it will be safe) then follow the walking track as it firstly follows a farm track before gently winding its way up through the native bush.

The walk is just under 750m and will take you around 15 minutes. Depending on the time of year, you may get to see lambs frolicking in the nearby paddock as you walk along the farm track. As you turn off into the native bush section of the walk keep an ear out for all the birds, including bellbirds (korimako), fantails (piwakawaka) and the occasional rifleman (tītipounamu). Please note, this it is not suitable for those with mobility challenges due to the walk and the steps up.

As you round the last corner you will see the Pod for the first time, perched on top of a small knoll. Once you get up to the property, take a moment to soak in all the breathtaking views, whichever direction you look, the views are fabulous, from farmland to the sweeping coastline.

Once you are at the Pod, you can sit back, relax, soak in the views and enjoy a complete absence of people. Comfortable deck chairs are provided, as is the most comfortable bed we can find. The property has all the facilities you require including a fabulous shower, flush toilet, crisp linen, cooking and eating equipment including a gas hob and barbeque, tea coffee and milk; as well as an assortment of games, local reference books, a telescope and a whole lot of nothing to do!

You can either bring your own supplies, or pre­order a dinner and breakfast food package when you make your reservation.

Check in is from 3pm (but please make sure you arrive in plenty of time to walk to the Pod before dark). Check out is by 12pm on the day of departure. Once you have confirmed your booking, you will receive instructions on how to find your secret slice of paradise.
