Situated on the hillside of a five-acre site full of lush, sub-tropical vegetation, this lodge is located in Coromandel, New Zealand. From the lodge, guests will enjoy breathtaking views of the Hauraki Gulf and the islands that dot its blue waters. The coastal landscape immediately surrounding the gulf presents a diverse variety of natural habitats and geological features, including sandy beaches, rocky coastlines, exposed reefs, kelp forests, mangroves, mudflats, shellfish beds, and underwater cliffs. The interior of the peninsula, in turn, is characterized by rugged hills draped in the verdant foliage of temperate rainforests.
Around the area, guests will find a number of swimming beaches, including those at Oamaru Bay, Waitete Bay, and Waikawau Bay. They will also find many walking and hiking trails, such as the Long Bay bush walk, the Kaipawa Trig track, and the Coromandel Coastal Walkway.
From the site, guests will enjoy easy access to the many attractions in Coromandel and the surrounding area. At Castle Rock, they can see the core of dormant volcano at the end of a scenic bush walk. At the Waiau Falls and Kauri Grove Lookout Walk, they can walk on a path that will take them past a stand of mature kauri trees to the peaceful swimming hole provided by the pool of water into which the Waiau River tumbles from high above.
At the Gold Stamper Battery, they can see a more than 100-year-old relic of New Zealand's gold mining past. At the Waterworks, guests can have fun at a quirky theme park centered around unique water-powered inventions and devices. On the Driving Creek Railway, guests can take a one-hour ride through the forest and panoramic views of the gulf.
For day trips, guests can head to attractions such as Cathedral Cove, Hotwater Beach, Whangapoua Beach, and New Chums Beach. The site is about two and a half hours from Auckland, where the nearest international airport is located.
