Kaitake

The Kaitake Range is just a portion of the vast nature that makes the region of Egmont National Park. Just 9 miles southwest of New Plymouth, the Kaitake Range shadows the coastal town of Oakura. Due to its location inside Egmont National Park, Kaitake is home to lush lowland forests—and they differ in appearance from the rest of Egmont. These woodlands grow over a volcano. As such, visitors hiking through the region will find plenty of diverse and range vegetation like redwoods, eucalyptus, and Douglas firs. Hikers can also reach the nearby Mt. Taranaki and the Pouakai Ranges, where vibrant natural features surround stoic mountain ranges. If you’re visiting Kaitake, you best be prepared for a different kind of outdoor adventure that will take you through rare kinds of landscapes.
