Otatara

A suburb of the city Invercargill, Otatara is a gateway town to the vibrant Otatara Pa Historic Reserve. Those visiting the reserve will find a protected and complex settlement home to breathtaking views of its surrounding regions, including Napier and Cape Kidnappers. On a clear day, you can even see Ruapehu and its snow-capped mountains. Called the most prized settlement in Hawke’s Bay, if you’re visiting Otatara, you can’t miss out on this scenic reserve. If you’re into hiking, there is a walk you can indulge in there. The Otatara Pa Historic Reserve Walk takes visitors on a short walk through archeological spots from one of the oldest Maori pa sites.
