This quirky old school bus is the perfect glamping spot for two guests, near Queenstown in New Zealand's South Island. Romantic getaways here are all about peace and tranquility. After a day out exploring, guests can return to a cosy retreat and enjoy stargazing from the plush queen-size bed. The private alfresco bath and shower area is an added treat with linen and towels provided.

The charming 1977 Bedford CDJ has previously been used for school runs, band transport and even as a party bus, but now this unique retreat is perfect for a nature getaway. The hosts provide several thoughtful touches to ensure a great stay in Queenstown, including a kettle, tea and coffee, a chilly bin for milk, Wi-Fi, and free parking.

Places to stay in South Island don't come more unique than this fabulous bus retreat located in Bob's Cove, 15 minutes from Queenstown. Guests can pop down to the Cove which is an easy five minute stroll from the bus. Glenorchy is a half hour stunning scenic drive further on down the lake and well worth a visit.

There is no public transport out to Bob's Cove so it would be more convenient to have a car, although guests can get here by taxi too.

Lover's of the outdoors will be in paradise at this Queenstown accommodation as right from their doorstep they can head to Lake Wakatipu. Things to do here include a wide array of watersports and hiking routes while back at the glamping getaway, glampers can also wander around the gorgeous garden.

There is a private path out to the road through the small budding orchard for access to the lake as well as biking and walking tracks which are an easy 10-minute stroll away and well worth the effort. If guests feel the urge, there is an adventure playground just across the road with a flying fox and exercise equipment.
