Cozy Tiny Cabin on a Wonderful Working Farm for a Peaceful Escape Surrounded by Nature in Odemira, Portugal

Tiny house in Odemira, Beja District

New

Two single rooms, one at each end of this charming wooden building. Small and uncluttered in true Zen style, these tiny cabins are at the edge of the camp, overlooking the cork oak valley and beyond, but still close to all facilities. They are not interconnecting. Each one has its own little deck so you can sit outside and enjoy the wild nature that surrounds you.

The farm is a uniquely wonderful off-grid eco-camp. We live here with our horses, who wander freely over the whole 30-hectare property. The place is a haven of tranquillity surrounded by wild nature where you can break away from everyday things and drop off the edge of the world. Far from the light pollution and electric hum of civilisation, the expansive silence encourages you to relax, breathe, regenerate as you enjoy long views over the Portuguese hills, or take a stroll through the magical cork oak forest, or go for a swim in our little lake.

The facilities are designed to blend in to the landscape unobtrusively and the spaces are simple and clean. We have warm showers and flush toilets in a small bathroom block.

Breakfast is provided and you can join us for lunch and dinner for an extra charge. You can make yourself tea, and light snacks but cooking space is limited. There are restaurants in the local village of Sao Martinho das Amoreiras, 8 km away for those who have their own transport (recommended).

It’s the perfect holiday for the meditative nature lover, who enjoys the good things of life. Doing nothing is easy here. But if you want to be a little busier and more involved, we have various activities you can choose to sign up for, such as distilling aromatic plants, nature meditations and self-exploration with the horses, or how to use essential oils for health.

We do want to make sure that everyone who visits enjoys their stay, so you should know that the farm is primarily a working farm. Our days are organised around taking care of the animals, caring for the land and distilling essential oils. We live with horses, dogs and cats who move freely around the place, so a love of animals is a prerequisite for an enjoyable visit. You need to take into consideration that we are far from ‘civilization’ and there is no public transport. Also you need to have a reasonable level of mobility to negotiate the slopes in and around the camp.

Additional info

Horses are by their nature fast moving and unpredictable, do not go into their area unless you have been given express permission to do so. Apart from that, fire is the most dangerous thing in Alentejo so please be very careful to extinguish cigarettes fully if you smoke. No outdoor fires or barbecues in fire season (June through September). Sorry, no pets
