Charming Holiday Rental with Pool Access near Lisbon in Portugal
The holiday rental near Lisbon in Portugal can accommodate up to five guests and was built in the rooms where, in former days, the hay was kept. This retreat has a different atmosphere, because of its authentic walls in natural stones. These thick walls keep the rental cool in summer and warm in winter.
The kitchen in this rental has a sink, a fridge, a cooker, and a microwave. Crockery and pans are provided, as well as towels and tea cloths. The bathroom has a toilet, a shower, and a vanity.
In the sitting room, there's a dining table with chairs and some easy chairs and a bookcase with books and some games. There is also a lot of information about the area, things to do, and places to go, too. The getaway opens out to a spacious veranda, where there is another dining table and some garden chairs.
There are two bedrooms in this luxury rental. In one of the bedrooms, there are two single beds (pushed together). In the other bedroom, there are bunk beds. If necessary, there is space to put a fifth bed. The hosts can also provide a baby bed.
There's an outdoor kitchen in the garden, named the 'Keukenhof.' Guests might know of the famous park in Holland, where all the bulbs grow in spring. This park is also called the Keukenhof ('Keuken' meaning kitchen and 'hof' meaning park). If guests come early in spring to this property, they'll see why it is called this. Even more important, there is also a barbecue, a big table, and chairs to cook and eat lunch and/or dinner al fresco. The outdoor pool is also ideal for a cool dip on those hot summer days.
During the high season, guests' stay will end with a communal meal, the 'Sardinhada'. This includes delicious sardines, good wine, and good company. Glampers are free to join!
All of the retreats have their own private terrace with a gorgeous view over the garden and the valley with the orchards. The garden is huge with a labyrinth and beautiful views over the pastures and fruit trees.
There is also a plunge pool where glampers cool down on those hot summer days.
The hosts have donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens, cats, dogs, and even a big turtle that guests can get to know while staying at this unique site.

The climate is excellent year round so depending on when guests go, they can either take a walk among the blossoming fruit trees in March, see the ancient dinosaur footprints in May, experience the spectacular cliffs of Salir do Porto in June, or see the wonderful old Convents of Alcobaca and Batalha in autumn. The beautiful walk through the spa town of Caldas da Rainha, where glampers can visit the thermal baths of Queen Leonor, might also be an option. Finally, there is a special tour of all the terraces along the beach.

The property was built in 1153 and is connected with the foundation of the state. The well-known story of lovers King Pedro and Ines de Castro stems from here. Caldas da Rainha, which means hot water baths of the Queen, is also nearby. Every morning, there is a fruit market on the Praça da Fruta.
10 minutes from Caldas, glampers can visit Óbidos. Óbidos is a beautifully restored town, totally surrounded by walls, and the citizens of Óbidos often organize all kinds of events. Being in Portugal means there are lots of festivals with lots of dining and wining.
The food in Portugal is absolutely marvelous. If guests don't like to cook for themselves, they can always go to a restaurant. There are so many possibilities and eating out is always cheap. There are numerous typical Portuguese restaurants where the portions of meat or fish can be enormous! The owner’s personal favorite is Dona Alentejano. The quality of the food is very good and the atmosphere is charming. Guests shouldn't forget to eat at a fish restaurant on the beach in Bom Succeso.
