Hocking Hills State Park is an Ohio state park in the Hocking Hills region of Hocking County in southeastern Ohio. About an hour’s drive from Columbus, this state park in Ohio receives about 2 millions visitors each year. Logan, Ohio is the nearest city and easiest access point to the park and a great starting off point for your state park camping trip. Within the park, there are about 200 campsites, cabin lodges, and private cabins for rent, split over the seven areas of the park. The park is divided into seven separate hiking areas: Ash Cave, Cantwell Cliffs, Cedar Falls, Conkle's Hollow, Old Man's Cave, Rock House, and Hemlock Bridge Trail to Whispering Cave. With over 25 miles of hiking trails and more, guests can easily explore the rock formations, waterfalls, caves, and forests of the park. The natural history of the region is quite interesting. The scenic features of the park are all carved Blackhand sandstone. This bedrock was deposited more than 350 millions year ago as a delta in the shallow sea that covered Ohio at the time; millions of years of uplift and erosion have created the beautiful cave networks and rock formations that you can explore here today.
