Salisbury, England

Scenic views
We would love to welcome you to our small exclusive campsite situated on a picturesque working farm in the Wiltshire Chalke Valley. The area is a designated "area of outstanding natural beauty" and is arguably one of the most idyllic areas of the West Wiltshire Downs and Cranborne Chase. The farm is located on the Dorset Wiltshire border, and is also only a few of miles from the New Forest in Hampshire.

Whilst is is common to describe this type of camping as glamping, we have a slightly different perspective. Although Chalke Valley provides modern day luxury comforts such as a hot shower, and a comfortable bed - we encourage our campers to enjoy a more natural experience and connect with the outdoors and nature. We benefit from a range of wildlife, wonderful sunsets, and huge star filled skies. The site is situated between a large pond and a small copse, with frogs, dragonflies, mallards, and a resident nesting moorhen!
Activities near Salisbury
Ideally located for Salisbury, Wiltshire, and Dorset, this glamping site has an abundance of activities and fantastic places to visit right on their doorstep.

Bowerchalke is a pretty, meandering village with a church, village hall, and cricket pitch with new pavilion. On Saturday mornings, there is a weekly market in the village hall, run by volunteers, which supplies homemade and home-grown fare (cakes, bread and pastries, vegetables and salad, soups, conserves, locally produced meats, trout from the trout farm in the village, etc.).

The neighbouring village of Broadchalke has a good pub and an excellent shop stocking local produce, as well as incorporating a cafe and post office. There are also watercress beds, where glampers can buy fresh watercress and free range eggs at any time of day.

There is a good selection of traditional pubs right down the valley and in the surrounding area. A beautiful walk over farmland and footpaths leads to the Horseshoe Inn, which specializes in traditional ales and hearty food.

A visit to Salisbury is a must with its magnificent cathedral and close, and its many shops, cafes and restaurants. A bus service operates from Bowerchalke to Salisbury.

Further afield is the Jurassic Coast (the famous Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove), the seaside town of Weymouth, Stonehenge, Longleat House and Wildlife Park, Cheddar Gorge and Wookey Hole caves, and attractions such as Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World, all within an hour’s drive.

Local events during the summer months include The Chalke Valley History Festival, The Larmer Tree Festival, The Great Dorset Steam Fair, and the Shaftesbury and Gillingham Show.
