Cambridge is a city on the eastern shore of Maryland. It is a historic city with a background in the canning industry and a center of the Underground Railroad through which slaves escaped to freedom in the 19th century. Today, it is a hub of heritage tourism for its historic places of interest. As a waterfront city, it is also an attraction for its scenic views of the Choptank River and the Chesapeake Bay, views which inspired James Michener's novel Chesapeake.
