Milton

Milton is a picturesque hamlet which rests on the western banks of the famous Hudson River, which lies not far from the iconic, rolling green Catskill Mountains. It is named after the classical English poet John Milton, but there is much more to it than this historical link. In fact, many people visit due to its amazing proximity to the natural world, where campers come to explore the New York wilderness all year round. Participate in water-based activities along the Hudson River, and follow trails to take in riverside views, or you could make your way out to the mountains of the west. Minnewaska State park Preserve is the perfect place to start exploring, and you can find many species of local wildlife here as you hike.
