Authentic Caboose in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia
This authentic caboose can accommodation up to two guests wanting to getaway on a glamping trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia. The interior comes furnished with a queen-size bed, appointed in linens, and a full bathroom with a shower and a toilet.
The living space comes complete with a 32-inch flat-screen television, where guests can watch all their favorite programs together. When guests require some food there is a small kitchenette with a fridge, a microwave, a toaster oven, and a coffee maker. Other amenities include heating and air conditioning to ensure a comfortable stay.
Outside guests can sit on one of the over-sized rockers on the fully-furnished deck, while sipping a toasty cup of coffee and watching the sun set. They will also find a charcoal grill for any tasty evening treats, before enjoying a relaxing soak in the Jacuzzi hot tub, found inside the caboose.
To promote the feeling of serenity, this site is fully decorated as an old railroad station, with typical elements one would find in the industrial days. There are caboose railcars, a depot cabin and authentic mining cars. The cabin looks just like the depot one would find at a train stop, and the cabooses were once fully functioning railcars.
The unit is appointed with heating, air conditioning, a two-person jacuzzi, extended satellite TV with 145 channels and 32" flat screens, a private bathroom, a fridge, a coffee maker, a microwave, a toaster oven, a charcoal grill and decks with over-sized rockers.
All the necessary living supplies to enjoy life in the mountains in Virginia are found in the accommodation themselves. However, if guests have any questions or require anything, the owners are on site at the office. This site has bicycle storage, as well as a parking lot for guests to use.

Scenic views
During the day, walk around the over 33 acres and hike down the hill to Grassy Creek. There, glampers can relax all by themselves among the pine & laurel thickets. On occasion, guests may see a doe and fawn run across or maybe even some turkeys or a buck.

Old Fiddlers’ Convention: There is a yearly convention here that guests can either participate in or attend that offers exciting original music and plenty of food and drinks to go around!
FloydFest: This yearly music festival is very close by. Not only will glampers find all sorts of interesting music like jazz, bluegrass or country, but they will also have the opportunity to participate in the different activities available at the festival site.
Mabry Mill: This watermill is a nice location to visit given its scenic surroundings. The mill has an exhibit representing what life would have been like in earlier times, and the gristmill, the sawmill, and the blacksmith shop are also open to tours.
Racing: There are NASCAR tracks just a few hours away.
Hunting and fishing: The Crooked Creek Wildlife Management Area, with about 1,796 acres of protected hunting, provides ample hunting possibilities. Given that this area includes 6 miles of Crooked Creek, guests may also find trout!
New River Trail State Park: These old railroad tracks span over 57 miles and glampers can venture out on them by foot, bike or horse. Going along these tracks, guests will encounter the New River, Chestnut Creek, and Claytor Lake, all of which offer amazing views.
Wineries: Chateau Morrisette offers wine tasting and meals, as well as occasional music festivals. Stanburn Winery, just a drive away offers tours, and is a good resting place for a little snack or a quick nap. Shelton Vineyards offers wine and food tastings as well as tours of the property. Foggy Ridge Cider also has tours available.
The Surry Arts Council: This is a cultural group operating different music halls, theaters, museums and playhouses in the region.
Restaurants: There are many different options for food in this area, such as the 1920s Hillsville Diner and the Wohlfhart Haus Theater, which provides delicious meals during shows.
