The Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is filled with coastal sand dunes and bluffs, scenic drives, sandy beaches and rivers, cherry and apple orchards, wineries, quaint hometown shops, lighthouses, and golf courses. Beachcombing, kayaking, fishing, biking, and cross-country skiing are just a few of the outdoor pursuits available in this area.

Glen Arbor features numerous specialty shops, resorts, galleries, and restaurants. Within a short drive are the towns of Leland, Suttons Bay, and Empire. From nearby Leland, known by the locals as "Fishtown", guests can see the history of this old fishing village and partake in their own fishing experience by hiring a Lake Michigan fishing charter.
